Human trafficking is a growing and serious issue that affects communities everywhere, including here in Cheyenne, Wyoming. To help combat this, Zonta Club of Cheyenne, in collaboration with Uprising, is hosting a multi-session Human Trafficking Training. This free event is aimed at raising awareness, educating professionals, and training the community to take action. I am proud to be this year's Zonta President. My real estate partner and Zonta's VP this year, Pam Pafford, and I have a passion for putting a stop to human trafficking. 

Why Attend?

Human trafficking can be difficult to recognize, and many people are unaware that it's happening in their own communities. This event seeks to change that by providing essential information, tools, and strategies to help prevent trafficking, particularly among vulnerable populations like youth. Understanding the complexities of human trafficking is the first step in addressing this issue head-on. Participants will learn from real case studies and receive actionable steps for helping those who may be at risk.

Who Should Attend?

This training is designed for a broad audience, including:

• Professionals and first responders who may encounter victims of trafficking in their work.
• Parents, teachers, and anyone who works with youth, to help them recognize the signs of exploitation and reduce risks.
• Community members who want to be more informed and proactive in the fight against human trafficking.

What Will Be Covered?

• Basics of Human Trafficking: An overview of the types of trafficking seen locally, using case studies to explain the broad scope of this issue.
• Human Trafficking for Professionals and First Responders: Training specifically tailored to those on the front lines.
• Youth Prevention for Professionals: Conversations for reducing the risk of exploitation among Wyoming’s youth, both online and in person.
• Keeping Kids Safe: A session focused on online and real-life exploitation risks faced by children today.
• Community Update: An open-to-the-public presentation on human trafficking in Wyoming, helping raise awareness among all members of the community.

  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Human Trafficking Community Update (HT 101)
• Wednesday, October 16th
  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Human Trafficking for Professionals and First Responders (Second Session)
  • 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Youth Prevention for Professionals (Lunch Provided)
  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM: Keeping Kids Safe Online & IRL
